Wanting to Meet Sable

I’ve been spending time in the cat-room with Sable. While I was there on Friday, one of the other beasts expressed some interest in who was behind the closed door. Meeting Sabe, though, is yet in the future.

Sable normally comes out just at night, but yesterday, when I was bringing in fresh water for her, I caught her out in the daylight. She experienced a little panic at first, but then sat still on a cat-tree. I spoke to her for a minute, and told her I would bring her some more soft-food. When I returned, she was hiding again. But this proved that she comes out during the day, to use the letterbox and to eat from her hard-food bowl. I think she will emerge more often in the daylight, and if I spend time in her room, she will find coming out while I am present an ordinary activity.

I think this is a slow process, but a sure one.

  1. When you were operating the Cosy Cafe, did you ever see Sable during the day? As far as I can recall, all your photos of her being fed were at night. Perhaps she's not used to seeing you in the light!

    1. She did visit during the day sometimes, but not often.

  2. I agree with you, John. I think Sable will acclimate to you and the Cosy Cabin slowly but surely.

  3. Knowing you fed her at night at the apartment, maybe Sable is such a nocturnal cat it will take a while to adapt to daytime living.

    1. I think she also considers it safer to feed at night.

  4. Is that a kickeroo? So she's been playing? If so, that's a great sign! You will win her over at least to some degree, of that I'm certain. 😊

    1. Alas, I don't think Sable has been playing. The toys are there for her if she wants to use them, though. I do think she has been surveying the scenes from the windows at night.

  5. It is wonderful that you have the patience to work with her making her comfortable in her new home, as you said slowly but surely you will get there
