Adapting to Changes

My newest cat, Millie, has shown that she does indeed wet outside the litter-box. She did it twice yesterday, despite the new Cat-attract litter in the box. She also wet in the box, which suggests that she has no physical problem; she will go to the veterinary soon for a check-up, anyway. Last evening, I set up a choice of options for her, and at some point in the night, she chose box number two, with the clay litter. The good news is that she did not go anywhere else. I will need to see that repeated for at least a week before she moves upstairs, unfortunately.

Otherwise, she is a sweet little creature. She is very friendly, doesn’t mind being picked up, plays with toys and with me, and purrs a great deal. How meeting the other beasts will affect her, of course, remains to be seen.

And on that subject, both Neville and Indigo have diarrhea…

But Sable was under the dining room table again this morning. I find that strange, since yesterday, she ended up there because I inadvertently cut her off in her attempt to regain the bedroom when I woke up. This morning, she was sitting under the table so patiently that I thought she was Imogen. I fed Sabe her breakfast there and she only returned to the bedroom after she had eaten. I don’t know if she will be there every morning, but she now knows that it is safe to eat there, so who knows what will happen next?

  1. Quite a mixed bag of news this morning! That's a pity about Millie still wetting outside the box; I hoped she'd be like Minuet in that regard.

    1. I was thinking of Minuet, too. Perhaps I thought, rather than just hoped, that Millie would be as easy.

  2. millie might be “stress peeing “ and this will cease once she becomes more familiar with her new home; it sounds like for the most part; playing etc., she’s doing great ‼️πŸ¦‹πŸΎπŸ˜ΊπŸ’š

  4. Good luck on aisle Neville clean up. And how sweet, maybe Sable will think all meals come from under the table and chair.

  5. I'd hoped Millie would do her business IN the litterbox, so this definitely is mixed news. Since she seems to prefer the clay litter, maybe it's more a matter of finding the right litter + style of box. Odd that she she shunned the Cat Attract, though! I thought that stuff was supposed to be a sure thing.

Good news regarding Sable, though! She's really making progress!

  6. I've had cats that would only use a particular type of litter. Even Cat Attract didn't work. Millie may only like clay litter. It will be interesting to see if she still prefers it in the future. Meanwhile Sable eating breakfast in the dining room is great news. But Indigo and Neville, (especially Neville since he has long fur), having diarrhea is not so great.

  7. Good thinking with choices, it could just be a matter of texture on the paws.

  9. I am sorry that Millie has wet out of the litterbox. As others have said, maybe she prefers a clay litter, but that wouldn't explain why she didn't use it each time. Sable is making wonderful progress.
I am sorry Neville and Indigo have diarrhoea and hope it is short lived.
