Why It Took Me Four Hours to Make the Bed

I make my bed every day, of course, but when the sheets need changing, or when the other bedclothes require washing, it is stripped. The comforter, the cover of which is also sometimes washed, is set aside. That’s when a cat usually finds it. This time, it was Cammie. She didn’t rouse herself from her nap - or at least from her perfect situation - for four hours. That’s all right; I had other things to do.

  1. My cats always "help" me make the bed. After all, isn't that part of their job? And Cammie looks so cute and comfortable, it's no wonder that you didn't want to disturb her.

    1. At least mine aren't as active in 'helping' me as some are, and maybe yours.

    1. I think she opened her eye to regard me with incredulity when I asked her if I could move her after about two hours.

    1. There's too much comfort being put all around them to ignore.

  4. Oh Cammie, you make me smile! You certainly have John well trained. Life is as it should be....for a cat. :)

  5. Of course you couldn't disturb her sleeping so peacefully. The duvet was always a favourite place to sleep here also when it was on the floor for changing the sheets.

  6. How nice of you to let her enjoy her beauty sleep! I do the same for my crew. We are well trained, aren't we? Lol.

    1. Fortunately, it was still a long time until I needed to use the bed...

  9. The challenge of changing bed linens and making beds in a household with cats. After umpteen removals of Holly off the bed in order to change the bedding I know why some people just give up.

    1. Holly sounds like she's much more active in helping make the bed than mine are.

  10. Cammie loves the comforter all the more because it's yours. Lovely of you to let her nap. You certainly know how to make this old kitty happy.
My cats are simply crazy for my pillows.

    1. It must have been very warm and comfy. The heated cat-beds are thinning a bit and since I can't find ones that fit the heating pads so well, I may have to thicken the cushions a bit - maybe with bits of old comforter!

  11. Oh do I ever know this routine. She hears the snap of a fresh sheet being unfurled over the bed and here she comes! To show that cats know the "good stuff", I do have a set of sheets and pillowcases that are that satiny, extremely soft looking cotton.. a higher thread count. I put those on instead of the more utilitarian ones Saturday and Miss Katie got on and in...and the bed waited until 1 PM to be made.
