Curly Antennae

My foster-cat, Parker, has many interesting features. One which I did not notice until this past weekend was the curl of some of his whiskers. They are not those which come from the sides of his mouth but, rather, those that sprout from above his eyes - the antennae.

You will notice that some curl with kinks, instead of smooth curves. I’ve not observed that in any of my other beasts, but I must take a look. Whatever their shape, the orange boy’s whiskers seem to serve him well: despite his diabetes, he can jump and run with the best of them.

  1. Many a human might envy naturally curly whiskers (or in the case of females, eye lashes).

They give Parker a bit of extra "character". :-)

    1. That's a very friendly habit, Tuna. It's worth losing a whisker or two to have a cat like you.

  4. Maybe he had slept on them. Eric's were kinked sometimes in the mornings.

  5. That's interesting. I haven't noticed curly eyebrows on any of my cats either. I wonder if Parker has a slight bit of one of the curly coated breeds somewhere on his family tree.

  6. I love such distinctions. Katie has one white eyebrow and it always curves over in a long arc. Unique also.

  7. Now you have me wondering, but none of the cats are within reach. (Of course if I wasn't wondering I'd have at least one glued to my side or lap).

Parker is such a lovely boy. I do so love the orange tabby.

  10. I like Parker's curly eyebrow whiskers. I had a look at Holly's and they are straightish.

    1. Parker does seem to be inspiring people to examine their own cats. (Sorry, cats.)

  11. Not a curl in the group! They must take after me.

  12. I can't really tell, but nobody's ever said that about me. I must have the routine kind, tuned into the world! Parker's are very cool, I must say! - Tom

  13. I just realized my Jessica's fur on her chin sticks out and she has a goatee. Does that count?

    1. I'm tempted to say 'yes', since that would count as whiskers for people. But I suspect that cats would disagree.
