About an hour ago, this little fellow arrived at the Cosy Apartment. He was found last week lying in the middle of the road, on the highway between my city and another town. There are no communities near by, and he was probably abandoned. We rarely have space for foster-cats, but he will be staying with me until he is adopted. I’ve named him Xanadu.
I don’t believe he was thrown from an automobile – as sometimes happens to unwanted cats – as he has no visible injuries, and acts unimpaired. He is five or six months old, in good shape, superficially, with smooth fur. He is very friendly, trusting and curious. He didn’t use a litter-box while at the home of the man who found him, but that may be for a variety of reasons. I don’t think he was an outside or barn cat, as he has the softness of an insider, and is very familiar and comfortable with human touch, suggesting daily, gentle contact. He has already sat on my lap – briefly, as there is much to explore.
For now, he will remain in quarantine in my bathroom. That will be tough for a lone youngster - Oleo and Bisto had each other for company – but unavoidable for the time being. When he has demonstrated a knowledge of litter-boxes, he can move to the library.
He may be a lost cat, rather than abandoned, and I will be checking the lost-and-found advertisements. If no one is missing him, Xanadu will be ready for adoption very soon.
What a cutie! He does have the air of someone who is lost, rather than abandoned. Either way, I’m sure he’ll find his home soon.
ReplyDeleteOh, he's so cute! What a sweet face. Welcome to the Cosy Apartment, Xanadu! I'll look forward to hearing more about him.
ReplyDeleteOh baby. Xanadu you look like a sweet kitty.
ReplyDeleteGoodness! How strange..
ReplyDeleteAnd he looks in good health and fit..!
Reminded me of that musical film Xanadu,
from the eighties..and Olivia Newton~Johb
sang the sound track..!
Lets hope he finds his real home or at
least a home soon..! :).
He is a sweet little boy, and a ginger!
ReplyDeleteWho could resist a little orange kitten that cute? Hopefully this will help his chances quick adoption. Or maybe whoever lost him might recognize that he's been found and step forward.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking lost too. My goodness, what an adorable boy! My first thought was that I'd take him if we lived in the same area. LOL. I hope he'll soon find his forever home! ♥
ReplyDeleteHe sure is a sweet looking guy and I'm sure he can be adopted quickly.
ReplyDeleteHe must have had a good home as he looks good, well fed and is trusting. How in the world did he get out? I wonder if the car was in a garage and he slipped in..no...because he had to find a way out of the car to be found in such horrible circumstances. I wonder if someone took him if his owners allowed him out. I hope hope that someone advertises for his return.
ReplyDeleteThe only way I think he could be a lost cat, considering where he was found, is if he slipped out of a car that had stopped or was slowing down and was not immediately missed. Otherwise, there doesn't seem to be a means of him getting to where he was first spotted.
DeleteA while ago, a family I know was moving from California to Arizona. At one stop along the way, when they opened the car door, their cat got out. Thankfully, they were able to find him, but it took a couple of hours of frantic searching. Perhaps something similar happened with Xanadu.
DeleteAww...he's adorable. Thank goodness someone spotted him on the road and picked him up. I suspect he'll find a forever home very quickly.
ReplyDeleteI will hope that he's a lost kitty.
ReplyDeleteWas he neutered? If not, then he was on walkabout, because the drive of the hormones is fiercer than the desire to stay home where it's comfy and food arrives at necessary intervals.
He’s not neutered, but there are no homes near where he was found but a few farms. I’ve looked in the local communities’ lost-and-found ads, and there is no one like him missing.
