Tuck'ed In

Tucker is probably my most playful cat. He and Josie chase each other, though only when I come home from work. He likes to spar with me and try to grab my finger to bite it. He will run and roll on the floor and squeal. He even incurs the wrath of the others by taking swipes at them as they pass, just for the fun of it.

Something unusual that he does is hide within the carpet when part of it is upturned. When I sweep the floor in the sitting room, the roly poly one will squeeze himself into the tube formed by the rolled carpet, turning himself into a real sausage. I’m not sure if he likes the enclosed space or whether he thinks he’s found a clever hiding spot. If the latter, it’s given away by his loud purring when I ‘discover’ him and creep ever closer, speaking his name.

Really, this is one sausage that would be eaten quickly in the wild.

  2. I don't have carpets, but my Kate does the same thing with bedspreads and afghans. She loves crawling under them, so all you see is that the bed or the couch has suddenly sprouted a purring lump. She's a small cat, so once or twice, people have almost sat on her, not knowing she's under there.

  3. Oh Tucker you are so cute! Annabelle loves to play in fabric and in the rugs too. I bet you two would have fun together.

  4. That's cute! It's funny how the mind of a cat works. We have five cats and the biggest one is probably half again the size of any other of our cats. Yet he likes to run down the stairs and stop, squishing himself against one of the risers, thinking we can't see him!

  5. LOL! Awww, poor Tucker, you're awfully hard on him, we think!

BTW, Nicki will do the same, hide under anything like that, a mat, a towel, etc. And then he LOVES to try to catch Mr. Stick, while bunny-kicking the cr*p out of whatever item is covering him. So maybe Tucker would like to have a go with a Mr. Stick from under his "hiding" spot too. :-D

  7. Too funny! Tucker apparently isn't very good at hide and seek.

  9. He does look like he enjoys a good game of hide and seek. Flynn likes to hide under everything too. Sometimes he plays in the porch and flips the door mat over himself and will go to sleep like that.
