This entry is little more than an excuse to show a cute cat in a snug cat-bed. But it did make me think that one of the things for which I am grateful - one of the many things for which I should be grateful - is being able to provide a warm haven for four cats. I wish I could bring in more, but my wage doesn’t allow it, not if I want to retain a monetary margin for error. And space is limited.
But when it is cold outside, or wet, when the wind howls, or when I see one of my cats drinking fresh water from a clean bowl, or eagerly anticipating a dish of soft-food, I feel good, and thankful that I am in a position to do this for them. There are, of course, many other actions I should perform to help the world. I sometimes attempt them, to varying degrees of success. But the four beasts who live with me are my success story, and I am grateful for it.
There's never a need for an excuse to show a cute cat snuggled up in a bed. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd given the fact that it's winter, in Canada, it's wonderful that your four "beasts" do have a snug, safe, cosy home!
it is always good to focus on what you do have..
ReplyDeleteI like that which you have said here. I feel a similar thing when I just see my own little one who is unafraid, loved and loving. I can do that for her.

ReplyDeleteI know just how you feel, John. I'm always becoming attached to the kittens and moms I take care of in the Maternity Room at the animal shelter where I volunteer three days a week. I'd love to adopt all of them, but I know I've reached my limit with the six I already have. Not to mention, I'm sure the landlord of my apartment building would not be very thrilled if I had an apartment full of cats!
ReplyDeleteIt is freezing cold here this past...well...feels like forever doesn't it John?
ReplyDeleteI leave my garage door cracked in the winter and leave some blankets in the corner next to the furnace and a little bowl of cat food. Once in a while it looks like it gets put to use.
What a lovely post. When I hear of cats and animals in distress I give my Holly an extra big hug. Knowing that I can provide her with a good home, food and love and care is a good feeling. Maybe someday I will get a bigger place and I can have another cat.
ReplyDeleteWhen I think of the feral cats that are outdoors and those that are tossed outside by their owners, it makes me sad. But, like you, I'm grateful I'm able to keep my three snug and warm in a safe and loving environment.
ReplyDeleteCammie is such a pretty girl! Anytime you want to share photos of her or the other three is a good reason to post.
I am sure your cats are also very grateful for the warm and caring home you have provided them with.
