Three-dimensional Snoozing

It’s funny how some cats interact. Parker has taken to snoozing on the dining table. He started doing it to remind me to take him for his walk in the evenings, lying in front of me while I write. He evidently liked the location, for whatever reason, and has taken to spending a great deal of time there.

Tucker, on the other hand, continues to favour the outer-most chair at the same table, with its soft cushion. The strange thing about these two is that, while the roly poly dislikes the orange-boy, and will swat at him if he passes beneath the chair, there is no concern or agitation if Parker snoozes on the table-top above Tucker.

This pair - Tucker wanting Parker gone from the cosy apartment and Parker wishing to avoid any contact with Tucker - will lie within inches of each other, as long as they are on different levels. When they are on the same surface, there is friction and, possibly, trouble. It is like a game of three-dimensional chess, of which only these two know the rules.

I am content, therefore, to leave them as they are. Perhaps some day they will extend their truce to other planes. Until then, they have played to a draw on this one.

  2. John, Da Boyz snuck into the neutral zone on Friday, and they and Angel exchanged mighty hisses and whaps through the screen door! Angel has been nervous ever since; meowing at all hours of the night. Wish they would just have a touch of detente, like Parker and Tucker have figured out. But, as much as we 'wish' they'd behave, we are rather proud of the fact that they insist on things their own way...don't we?!?

    1. I hope things are returning to normal at your house. To have the neutral zone violated would be an act of war in some quadrants.

    2. Which is the Romulans and which is the Federation? Hm. I say Tucker is the Romulan...I am sure of it! I'd wager 100 Quatluus!

  4. tuna and sauce used to do this; tuna being the bully. he and sauce could be laying within inches of one another; but one had to have the "upper deck" and lo the interloper who dared crossed the
other's threshold ~~~~ I pray by now tuna's "catitude" has greatly diminished, or I'm in trouble with him and mackerull ~~~

  6. Tucker and Parker sure have an interesting relationship, and it seems to work for them. They may never become close friends, but at least you don't have out and out "Star Wars".

  7. I wonder if Tucker believes he has the better of the two spots as he has the cushion. Funny how cats come to prefer certain spots as. opposed to others. The table top can't too comfortable but I guess it offers a good spot to survey the rest of the room.

    1. I'm not sure he surveys much with his eyes closed.

  8. I would imagine the table top is nice in cool in the warm weather you have been having. I think that if I were forced to live in a small apartment with five stranger siblings, I would tolerate some of them too and not want to be too close.

  10. Tucker and Parker really have a interesting relationship, but deep down they are best friends. Guess they will have to figure it out one day or maybe if they are not on the same level. There will be no fighting. Great photo of them all having a great cat nap. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful day.
