Today's Fuss

There’s a bit of a hubbub in the Cosy Apartment today; not quite a brouhaha, but certainly a to-do. The building’s management needs entry into apartments to replace some drain pipes. Those tenants with cats were advised to put them somewhere safe and out of the way; I suspect that the repairmen would have the apartment doors open while they they were working.

Consequently, I had to sequester my cats while I am at work. Tucker becomes frustrated being locked up, and tends to take out his feelings on Neville, if the latter gets in the way, so the Nevsky and Renn, who get along decently, are in the library, while the roly poly and Josie are in the bedroom. Where is Xanadu, you may ask? My newest foster-cat went for an over-night stay with another member of the rescue-group, who kindly is putting the youngster up for the occasion. Xan will be back in the Cosy Apartment later this afternoon.

I worry about the beasts when things are out of sorts like this. They are sensitive to changes in routine and can be upset by them. But each room has a litter-box, food and water, and comfy places to lie, as well as a window. Now, I just have to hope that everyone is still in one piece when I return…

  1. Never mind John..Just think you'll
be able to use your 'NEW' vacuum
cleaner to clean up all the workmen's
    mess...! HeHe! :).
Don't forget to plug it in first! :o).

    1. That's true: and the new machine is working very well - quite a change.

  2. It seems you have no break in the disruptions in your cosy home. If not
felons, bad breaks in vacuums, overnight ferals, vet visits, now you
have the repairmen. It's a wonder your family of cats has not looked for
a quieter home. However, I do hope the piping gets done efficiently and
quickly. I see Xanadu has his adoption posting listed, too.

  3. Several years ago, we had our whole house re-piped. You can imagine what fun it was sequestering a household of cats against THAT.

  4. Boy, can I relate to your predicament. I've had cats for about 50 years, and at various times I've lived in apartments that either didn't permit pets or permitted only 1 or 2. (I've always had more than the permitted number.) Needless to say, I've become quite adept at hiding my animals if maintenance needs to enter my apartment while I'm at work. Of course, I always worry that there will be an emergency situation and they will have to enter the apartment unexpectedly when I'm not home.

  5. No worries; they will do fine!
They may choose to give you an earful of meows, telling them about their day in confinement, but you'll smooth things over with each one!

  6. Yes, it sure is stressful for everyone when those things go on.

  7. I am sure they will be fine even if they do let you know what they thought of the arrangements when you get home!

  8. Ugh, that kind of disruption is never fun for any Being involved. However, better safely sequestered than in any way endangered! Good luck!

  10. I always lock my cats in the bedroom when anyone is coming over for their safety. Better to have them be a little stressed than to escape.

  11. You handled it well as I naturally expect you to. I look on you as an expert. I get to enmeshed in minor things when I need to make that type of decision.

  13. Hope it all went well. Small changes do throw a touch of chaos into a felines need for stability in their home
