Imogen will tolerate the other cats - aside from Brazil - on the bed with her. Sometimes she will growl at them or hiss, but that is to demonstrate displeasure, rather than to give warning of violence. I think Aurora would like to be friends with Miss Silky, but she spoiled her chances by chasing Imo whenever the latter ran. Auro also likes to wait outside the storeroom to pounce on cats - not just Imogen - when they come out of the litterboxes. It’s a game to Aurora and, though I stop her every time I see it impending, the other cats know it’s a game and play along - except for Imogen.
So Aurora has blotted her copybook with Imogen. But I believe that she nonetheless wants to be friends. Last night, she was able to show this by grooming Imo’s head for a few minutes. I was surprised that my house-panther permitted it, but not surprised that, having allowed it, she put a sudden stop to it soon enough by seizing Aurora’s head with her paws and clamping her mouth on it.
Well, Auro was not hurt, or even put off, so it seems. And that Imogen accepted the attention at all is a good sign. It may take time - and she may ruin it by more rough-housing - but Aurora’s persistence may yet pay off. Maybe in a decade or two.
Yes, this is a good step!

Amazing you caught this happen. Imogen may decide a "free" bath is worth the trouble.
ReplyDeleteI'm truly amazed Imogen let Aurora do this at all. Maybe she's feeling a bit of Christmas spirit. π
ReplyDeleteThat's really very sweet and amazing to see!
ReplyDeleteI do hope Imogen decides Aurora isn't so horrible after all - though that will take some improvement in behaviour of the latter. In any event, I hope it won't be a decade or two!
ReplyDeleteSaku said a mouf full.
ReplyDeleteThat is very sweet. Imogen does seem to be mellowing slightly towards the others.
ReplyDeleteImogen may be finally getting used to Aurora, or perhaps Aurora's persistence is finally paying off.
ReplyDeleteAurora is so sweet. I hope Imogen soon learns that there's no malice in the little one--she just wants to play.
ReplyDeleteOMG!! Progress!
