Growing Accustomed Again

Cammie is an interesting cat. She is a bit of a grump, really, though she has much potential, and when she is on my lap - and she jumps up there at her own choice - she purrs and pushes her head against me. So there is pleasure and friendship waiting in that little Siamese heart. However, much of her interaction with others, whether feline or human, comprises hissing and growling.

And yet, though I can't say that it is all for show, her grumpy attitude doesn't last if one is gently persistent. Before she left me for her abortive adoption, Cammie was getting used to the other cats, protesting against their presence, or sight, less than she had. Due to her recent experiences, that process has received a set-back, abetted by Kola's advent. But my little princess is bothered by the comings and goings, not by the actual cats. Once they are established in place, they hardly trouble her. It's just a matter of growing accustomed to everyone again.

  1. She's definitely not too bothered by anything in those photos! :-)

    1. Exactly. I cannot stress enough that if she is adopted, Cammie will need time. She will need a person who will give her time to decide that she is safe and loved on her own. She will never be an 'easy pet'; neither will she be hard work. Kind words, attention when she asks for it, reassurance - and time. Those will win Cammie over. That's what I hope will happen here.

  2. I think, and perhaps this is presumptive of me, that she has already been adopted.
"my little princess" indeed! Unless I'm totally out to lunch, I think she has definitely captured your heart.

I suspect she's thrilled to be home with you. Even if it means putting up with the other cats. ;)

    1. Sometimes, people don't see the value of something because the exterior is a bit too tough and uninviting. In that case, it's their loss. If no one is smart enough to choose Cammie, she'll have a home, anyway.

  3. I agree, I think she has the perfect home with you. You love and understand her and give her all the time she needs. It would be so sad if another future adoption went wrong for your little princess.

  4. She sounds a lot like our Miss Fitz. Mostly a loner sleeping in her favorite part of the cat tree that she has taken over as her personal part of the house on occasion she plays with grand abandon with a chosen partner. She has started to really open up with Dad too. Squeaking at him as he comes up the stairs after work. Staying in her spot on the bed and of late climbing into his lap to purr in contentment.
He says the late bloomers are can sneak deep into your heart.
I say she still has a mean Whacky paw

  5. Lets hope that she settles in again. I really do believe her true home is with you and your little gang. You are the most intuitive with her and your little group seems to deal well with her.
