In a shameless act of self-promotion, I would like to pre-empt writing about my cats and tell you about a new blog I have created. It is called “Movie Night at the Cosy Apartment”. The link to it may be found on the side-bar.
I watch a film once a week, unless something catastrophic - such as a tornado, fire or cat-vomit - intervenes. On long weekends, I frequently watch two films. I’ve decided that it’s a waste of the opinions that I think so clever and important not to discuss them, even if it is a one-sided discussion. In truth, many of the movies I watch are old, from the 1940s and ‘50s; a number of modern ones are independent; I think they deserve to be known a bit better.
So, if you like, take a look at my first offering in the realm of film reviews. The look of the blog may change yet, but the content won’t. I hope you enjoy "Movie Night at the Cosy Apartment" as much as I do. Right, Josie?
Is there popcorn with this? Kitty treats? :-D
ReplyDeleteThat link is at the bottom of your sidebar right now (at least when I view it). As a suggestion: It would be more visible and accessible if you added a sidebar link near the top of the page. Just a thought! :-)
I put the link at the bottom because I didn't want to take away from the other links in the list. But I can move it up.
DeleteAs for popcorn, there is always a big bowl of it on movie-night - but I'm afraid I hog it all.
I'll head over to your movie blog! Although I don't watch as many movies as I once did, they are still a favorite pastime. The Hubby likes oaters! I'll drop everything to rewatch "The Adventures of Robin Hood" or "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir"...or still a favorite, "The Quiet Man". Wish there were more movies with cats in them, right Josie?!?
ReplyDeleteI go through periods of different genres or actors - not long ago, I must have seen half a Randolph Scott films in a row. Errol Flynn is the best Robin Hood, and "The Quiet Man" is one of Wayne's best. I like watching the familiar with the unknown.
DeleteI love movies from the 40's and 50's. Especially the musicals - "The Bandwagon", "Kiss Me Kate"....I could go on and on. Pass the popcorn, please.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, the musicals are great. I think my favourites are "My Fair Lady" and "Singin' in the Rain" - the title song of which was first performed in 1931, so is characteristic of the era in which the film took place.
DeleteOh, this sounds like fun! As it happens, I've lately gotten into watching old movies over the weekend. (I've never been much of a movie buff before, but I've gotten curious to see "classic" films of the past.) The blog should give me some viewing ideas!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing ones that sound interesting but of which I know little beyond that. It's sometimes a bit of a mystery as to what I'll get.
DeleteCongrats on the new blog, I will check it out.
ReplyDeletesounds like fun !!! I dont watch tv, haven't in years; it's not even hooked up in any fashion. I prefer to watch one of the dvd's I've collected; regardless if it's something I can memorize; way better than the stuff out on tv now and I think for the most part, movies too !! ☺☺
ReplyDeleteI'm exactly the same. I have a television set, no television. It's plugged into a dvd-player at one end and the electricity-supply at the other. I download all my movies and burn them on discs to watch in comfort and leisure.
DeleteI rarely have the TV on. I cut the cord and I do have one of those antennas. Katie loves her PBS baby shows. She really truly watches Daniel Tiger, Super Reader and several others. Me..I watch my (I'm a Trekkie) Netflix of all the Trek iterations and a (very) few others of the nicer shows that don't tax my ears with HBO language. Got my DVD's too of cool-to-me stuffs like Downton Abbey etc.
DeleteI'll go see if we have seen the same movies. I think if I chose one night a week, I could watch one IF I find anything available.
DeleteNow, do you seek input on the reviews from your five housemates? At least I trust you stay awake to the end of the film. I am not so certain of the other five.
ReplyDeleteRenn or Parker join me, more often the former. But he sleeps through the best parts of each movie.
DeleteI'm horrible at watching movies, just don't have the patience for it. But perhaps having read your reviews I might be more willing to check a few out.
ReplyDeleteI'll head over and check it out right away!
I love watching movies, I can watch a few a day sometimes! Thank goodness for Netflix, MOL!
ReplyDeleteI don't watch many movies. But I do like those oddball 40's / 50's Noir pictures.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new blog. I'm headed there now.
Well that is a fun blog idea! I hope it is a wild success.
