A month ago, Parker went to the doctor for an examination of his teeth. Today, he is at the hospital for a full dental. He has a few teeth to remove and plenty of cleaning to be done. I will know more about what is required when the veterinary calls me to explain the situation.
The orange-boy was confused this morning, confused and hungry. I couldn’t give him his breakfast, of course, nor his bed-time snack last night, due to the use of anaesthetic today. He still purred and was a happy cat - a hungry, happy cat.
Once more, I wish I could explain things to animals, so they would understand the necessary pain and discomfort they go through. But after this is all over, it will be forgotten, and Parker will feel much better. He’ll just have to trust me on that.
Hear him now, Parker...and believe him later! You're gonna feel better after your teefs are cleaned, fixed, and shiny again!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard for him to believe he'll feel better - but you and I know he will!
DeleteFingers and paws crossed for Parker, we're sending Light and purrs that all goes well. Smooches to him when he's home again, the love. He'll be seeing pink mice on the walls. :-)

ReplyDeleteWe hope all went well for Parker. He will feel much better after this is all over.
ReplyDeleteI hope Parker is comfortable and recovering uneventfully. He will certainly remain in our prayers. We know you will support him and monitor him with your usual expertise and attention to detail. When I read this morning that he was confused as to what was happening it just tore at my heart. These poor loves have no way of understanding the why we starve then, take the to an unfamiliar and frightening place where terrible things happen to them. Somehow they handle all of the changes and love us anyway. Aren't they wonderful? Kiss Parker for us.
ReplyDeleteThey are indeed wonderful. Parker is recovering well tonight. I will write more about him tomorrow.
DeleteI just read this and I know how I felt too when Katie had a dental last year. I felt like a bad person not giving her breakfast when she wanted it so much. There was noting for her to nosh on during the night either...and I couldn't tell her why. Kari above me here- stated it for me as well.
ReplyDeletePoor Parker. He's in the best of hands with you caring for him. Just think how much better he's going to feel after he's healed! Hugs and kisses from Lucy, Ozzy and I.
ReplyDeletepurrs for Parker - we hope he comes through with flying colors
ReplyDeleteOh, I know what you mean! One of my cat has also removed most of his teeth. And in the nearest future will probably have to remove the rest of them :( He had gingivitis when he was found on the street and teeth which we didn't have to remove before look not good now.
ReplyDeleteI also feel terrible when I have to go to vet with my cats, they don't understand why they have all these injections and tests. I know, that injection doesn't hurt very much, but still it's some pain, animals can't understand it.
But also I learned, that my cats trust me, they let me do a lot of things with them, they even prefer to get all medicines at home, I usually go to vet to buy medicines and I give it to them alone. I can make simple drip and subcutaneous injection. Actually I call vet when I need diagnosis or when I can't handle with something.
I too have learned much in my time with cats, and do as much as I can for them at home, to keep them from the stress of veterinary visits. I may have to give Cammie (who is in the initial stages of kidney failure) subcutaneous fluids some day. I hope not, but if I need to, I am ready.
