My Early Christmas Gift

I want to thank those who commented on the new Hotel Cosy. I am currently searching for a source of straw. I have an acquaintance who may be able to procure some for me. It isn’t easy finding straw these days, despite the fact that the city in which I reside is meant to be an agricultural hub. Just a hundred years ago, I wouldn’t have had this problem, as half the vehicles in town would still have been horse-drawn. But then, I would have had more trouble finding an internet connection.

In the meantime, I would like to show you my early Christmas gift. Actually, I was given her four and a half years ago, but there always seems to be something new about her. Cammie likes to lie under the Christmas tree where it is now, especially when its lights are on. I think it’s the combination of an enclosed space (the branches above her) and the heating pipe behind her. In any case, she remains one of my favourite presents.

  1. I do love the Princess. I have a special admiration for those "take-no-prisoners" felines.

  2. Aww, Cammie is so sweet! My last straw purchase was from Tractor Supply Company; I wonder if they ship? The straw is encased in plastic, which means my car trunk didn't get littered with straw pieces, and I only use a portion of the bunch, so it wraps up again nicely for storage. And make sure it's straw, and not hay! Good luck!

  3. And likely the most cherished Christmas present too. :-)

Chumley and Annie loved to lie under my tree (I still have the old tree skirt) and when I used to put up my larger one, Derry would lie under as well, usually behind the presents. Nicki didn't do that quite so much. The last few years I've had a smaller 4.5 ft tree up on a box (covered with the tree skirt), so lying underneath it wasn't an option. This year I have the little tabletop one on a low table in the corner, and Derry does like to hide behind it. I suppose in my case, he was my best Christmas present, as his 10th adoption anniversary is tomorrow!

Anyway, enjoy your own "present". She certainly looks lovely there.

  9. What a sweet girl she is in her place beneath the tree. That was also Eric's favourite place, when he wasn't climbing it and pulling it over.

    1. No, she wasn't really a Christmas gift. She came as a foster-cat, and stayed. She just looks like a present, under the tree.
