Reaching a Compromise with Spring

After a long winter, not unusually cold but with much more snow than we have had in many years, it is at last spring. But just as the winter was abnormal, so too is this spring. It seems more like summer, with its high temperatures. The trees had to rush to catch up, their leaves bursting out very rapidly, and the flowering shrubs are late in blooming.

The cats too have experienced a summer-like spring. They have been enjoying the sunbeams that now come into the apartment, especially in the sitting room. But sometimes the heat is too much even for feline bodies. And yet, some cats are reluctant to abandon the warmth that felt so good for so many months. Cammie has found a compromise.

  1. Ha! Half in, half out (or thereabouts). That's called "balance", I guess. :-)

We've not been having the heat wave that most of the west has, thankfully. It's 20C-ish today, feels like 22 right now, according to the weather folks. Perfect!

Have a great long weekend! (This is my "Friday", and I'm taking Tuesday as a vacation day too. Your holiday must be coming up soon...it's not already over, is it? Am I that scattered-brained?)

  2. Well, Cammie won't win a gold medal for style, but would for just plain making it work! LOL!

  4. Cammie looks so comfortable. My guys love sun puddles too, but unfortunately, my apartment doesn't get much sun. We only get sun in the early mornings, and the cats are well aware where the best sunbathing spot is located.

  5. It's hard to give up a favourite bed, but there are always ways around such predicaments.

  6. I concur with you regarding the lack of spring. It is more like summer, we have humidity and 90+ degrees already. Also more tropical lows coming up from the Caribbean to make us here in Florida all remember that Hurricane Season starts June 1st.

  7. Maybe not the most elegant way to catch the sunbeams but Cammie does look very happy and content.
Spring arrived late here but quickly caught up. The trees have gone from bare to full leaf growth almost over night.

  8. Yeah, it's been a little hot and humid here, and I seem to want to just lay around more than usual. Dad's got his comments about my weight, but I make him keep them to himself. This weekend's supposed to be a rainy one, too.

  9. Smart girl! The cats here have been some put out with me as on those days the temp is too high, they only get part of the day in the sun room. (my daughter will close it up at noon).

    Enjoy the sunshine everyone!
