Neville is at the veterinary hospital having his dental procedure. He was most unhappy about having to go. My grumpy middle-aged man hissed and growled as I stuffed him into the carrier but, like most cats, he protested no further. It’s not in his character to be violent; I doubt that it even occurs to him.
He has some bad teeth which will be removed. As with all such procedures that are performed on my older cats, I instructed the doctor to remove any teeth that look like they would pose serious problems in the future. If a tooth is in that condition, it won’t get better, and will mean only another trip to the hospital, perhaps when the cat is at an age when he can no longer tolerate the anaesthetic without risk.
I am expecting no complications. The Nevsky is eating well again and, though he is back to enjoying hard-food, at least in small amounts, he is also consuming a decent level of soft-food, so he will receive much of that as he recovers. He could stand to lose a little weight, anyway.
I will report how Nev does in tomorrow’s blog entry, though his reaction to it all can probably be guessed already.
Purrs and prayers Neville. Maybe the tooth fairy will leave you gifts for any teeth.
ReplyDeleteI hope all goes smoothly. Poor old Nev, when you put him in the carrier, he was probably thinking, "Oh, great, first that little grey girl goes rampaging around the place, and now this..."
