Pieces of Renn

I would have thought the principal shedding period for cats was over. At the cosy apartment, however, the excessive heat that we are experiencing may be inspiring the beasts to greater efforts. And, while most of them are divesting themselves of their extra hair in an unconscious manner, Renn is a cat of another colour.

He seems not to be shedding, strictly writing, any more now than he usually does. But he is grooming himself more, with the result that he is throwing off small clumps of hair everywhere. I am sure my big boy is not suffering from anything except a more noticeable enthusiasm for cleanliness. I keep an eye on overzealousness, of course, and am inspecting his fur more than usual.

In the meantime, Renn is littering the apartment with little bits of his hair. Sometimes it is fluffy; more often, it is thick and damp (or previously damp), from him licking it off his body. I am glad that he likes to keep himself presentable, but I now find bits of him lying all over our home.

Really, it is a small thing to use the vacuum cleaner on the big boy’s refuse. And in return, he maintains a fine-looking and healthy coat - which he enjoys showing off, like this.

  1. Renn is such a handsome fellow, and from your pictures, it's easy to see, he knows it!! Unfortunately, hairballs and shedding go along with having cats. Personally, I've given up trying to keep up with the cat hair. I figure that's why they call it fur-niture.

  3. Doesn't he look handsome all stretched out. Does Renn have issues with hairballs? My young tabby is losing a lot of hair. Hoping it's only because of it being summer. I brush him till it feels like my arm is going to fall off.

    1. He has been throwing up hairballs recently. I started him on some hairball remedy and that seems to have helped. He is also suffering some mats in his coat, which I am trying to eradicate; his increased grooming may have to do with that.

  9. As always, it's a joy to see Renn. Such a handsome fellow indeed! Does he liked to be brushed? If so, I highly recommend investing in a furminator. It's truly astonishing how much fur it gets out.

  10. Handsome Renn! I love that belly. Fuzzy Tales is right - a furminator is a great investment. Sami is a short hair and I probably get a kitten off her every time I brush her. Less so for Sasha though Sami bathes him a great deal, and Saku prefers to do his own grooming...thank you very much. :)
