Pseudo-science to the Rescue

I saw this on the internet. Some of you, I know, have seen this previously, but I thought I would share it with others, simply for its absurdity. I cannot determine whether it is meant in jest or seriousness. The fact that the cap’s package states that it helps protects against ‘dog e.s.p.’ suggests the former, though you know some people out there (those who are way out there) will be putting this on their cats to prevent harmful telepathic penetration of their poor animals’ brains.

What I chuckle over is the expression on the ‘model’. He looks positively astounded. “Good Heavens, the alien messages have stopped! It’s a miracle!”

  1. Surely in just, yes, though there probably ARE humans out there who would put it on their cat. Maybe it actually clarifies reception from the Mother Ship. :-P

  2. About a dozen people on Twitter brought that to my attention. :)

Although, I think it's humans who need those to protect ourselves from cat ESP...

    1. I thought you may have seen it already. And yes, a little defence against them would be nice - but unlikely.

  4. It’s got to be a gag gift joke. It just has to be. I feel sorry for the poor cat whose thick, clueless owner buys one.

    1. I hope it is used only briefly, a la the Santa Claus hat for the Christmas photograph.

  5. I had never seen this before. The expression on the cat's face says it all - I love it. While I'm sure it's meant to be a joke, I bet there are some people who would take it seriously. After all, common sense is not common.

  7. The look on that cat's face is so funny! As you say, it has to be a joke, but there is sure to be someone out there who takes it seriously.

  9. John, a local store has this product, blowup unicorn horns for cats too! They also sell coffee mugs and underpants for squirrels. Hmmm....
