A Good and Useful Legacy

I had to throw out a small legacy of Minuet yesterday. When she came to stay with me, Madame brought with her certain items. One was a cat-nip butterfly. As it turned out, she did not play with it much. But the others did, especially, for some reason, once we moved into the Cosy Cabin. Imogen and Valkyrie were the ones who liked it the most, but others had use of it, too. Alas, the years caught up with the cat-nip butterly at last, as they do with us all, and, its seams rent, it fell apart, cat-nip littering the floor wherever it was then.

Though the cat-nip butterfly is gone, it leaves behind a record of service and entertainment. Minuet may uncover it, whole and intact, under a tussock during one of her frolics in Samarra. Everything good or useful finds its way to Samarra eventually, just as everything good or useful remains with us in our land, in one form or another. And the little cat-nip butterfly was indeed both good and useful.

  1. Indeed, a much-loved toy takes n a life of its own, worthy of a tribute and a memory!

  2. Celestial Minuet is basking in sunpuddles and watching the world behave crazily while she remains mellow and serene.

  3. I remember her so well. Little Minuet and her gown you got her for her older lady chill.

  4. I am sure Minuet and her catnip butterfly will be reunited in Samarra and she'll enjoy playing with it once again.

  5. It was well loved, perhaps now it has become real, as the Velveteen Rabbit did.

  6. It is good that others got pleasure in playing with the butterfly. Now it has flown to Samarra with mended body and wings to be played with by a rejuvenated Minuet.

  7. Minuet brought with her a sweet toy for everyone else to use. She's probably smiling about the fact that it was well used. May that butterfly fly directly to her.
