Knowing the Nose

I kept Tucker’s nose under observation (my eyes were very much on his nose...) over the weekend. I received some helpful suggestions of what the problem might have been but, fortunately, I think it is, after all, a scratch that has been mildly infected. The spot looks more scabrous now, after a few days’ passage.

I will of course maintain a watch on the roly poly’s proboscis until the scab is healed - or otherwise - but I think it is another case of Tucker’s nose having been put where it shouldn’t. He sometimes thinks he’s a tougher fellow than he is, and that gets him into minor trouble now and then.

Even so, such problems as this seem to be a source of constant concern. The smallest injury may, at least in my imagination, turn out to be the end of a cat’s world, so vigilance must be maintained. It really is better to be safe than sorry, even if that safety comes at the price of a great deal of worry.

  1. Awww sweet Tucker. WE are glad to hear that it is just a small thing, but yes I do the same thing thinking that the tiniest of thing is life threatening.

  2. Ah, this is good news! We have our paws crossed that Tucker's nose continues to heal and that he keeps it out of places it ought not to be in the future. :-)

  3. Glad it seems to be healing. It is more worrisome when diabetes is involved since infections get worse more quickly and don't heal as easily. Looks better for sure compared to the redness of the other pictures.

  4. I'm so glad that the lesion on Tucker's nose seems to be on the mend. I tend to be an overanxious mother myself, so I can understand where you're coming from. I, too, get overly concerned about what may be a minor problem with my cats. However, I would rather have a minor problem checked out than wait until something minor becomes something major. Your concern and vigilance, John, just shows that you're a great pet parent, and that you love your fur-kids.

  5. I'm happy to read the sore is healing. I don't think you can ever be too concerned when it comes to our cat's health. Sending a hug.

  6. That's a really wonderful photo of Tucker. A calendar boy, for sure. So glad his nose ailment is nothing more serious.
It has been my experience that nothing ever simple happens with my cats. It's never such a scratch, rash, upset stomach stc. It is most always something rather more complicated, rare or unique. I guess I've been conditioned to expect the worst.
As a side note, I gave my kitties a variety of seafood, Fancy Feast of course, which I had picked up by mistake. Four vomiting cats one right after the other.
    Makes one wonder, doesn't it.

  7. Such a sweet photo of dear Tucker. I am glad it looks to be nothing more than a scratch but good to keep your eye in his nose. While looking after my friend's two cats I sort of panicked when I noticed a small such mark on one of her kittys' nose. but it turned out to nothing more than a small scratch and an over-anxious cat auntie.

  11. I am glad to hear that Tucker's nose is healing and not anything serious. It is our job to worry about anything even remotely out of the ordinary.

    1. It's a job that can wear you out, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
