My Old Lady's Health

Josie went to the veterinary yesterday, to make certain that her urinary tract infection of three weeks ago had been vanquished. She had finished her fortnight’s course of anti-biotic, and I would have been surprised had it not done its job, as my Chubs was feeling better after the first day of treatment. She arrived at the hospital with a full bladder, so a sample of her urine was easily taken. The infection is gone.

The Great White’s behaviour at the hospital was interesting. She spent the first half wandering about the examination room, meowing, quite restless. Then she decided that all was well and settled down on a padded bench, purring. The purrs may have been nervousness, but her attitude did not suggest this. Something seems to have told her to relax; it was just a matter of waiting to go home.

Go home we did, and Josie spent the rest of the day, snoozing, looking out the bedroom window and eating some treats, presented for being such a good girl. I think she may have found the day satisfactory, after all. I know I did.

  1. Glad to hear her UTI is gone, AND that she wasn't bothered by going to the vet. That can be so stressful for them.

  2. This is such wonderful news! Hopefully this is the beginning of a "quiet" time and everyone will remain well. John, you really need a break from vet visits, giving out medication, and the worry that goes along with having a sick cat.

  8. I'm glad the UTI is gone, that's great news. Were you actually able to go into the clinic with her? If so, you're lucky, we can't do that here yet.

Fingers crossed she, and your other fur family, remain healthy--or as healthy as possible for each of them, with no vet trips on the horizon.

  14. This is great news about Josie!
Thank you for your kind words and thoughts about Mina we truly appreciate it. We are very sadden right now and it helps to know that you understand. Loss is such a hard journey. Everywhere you look you see imprints of visions and it just brings tears. I don't know if Mina fell (she was a climber), or was hit by a car, or if an animal attacked her, but I didn't see blood. But to be honest I didn't look for long I was rushing to fast to scoop her up and get her treatment, and it feels real crushing to know the only treatment was euthanasia. I feel guilt about that. But, it is truly the only bright spot in all of this is that she came back to me. She came home, I just had to take her the final leg of her journey.
