Desirable Residence Needs Tenants

When I moved into the Cosy Cabin, I discovered this little trailer suspended from a tree’s branch in the back garden. It’s a bird-house. It was empty when I moved in, and may, in fact, never have been used. I hope to see it utilised in the spring, but do not know if it is amenable for birds (it is of course unsupported and might even be dangerous to eggs and hatchlings on a windy day), and may not be what a young bird-couple would want. It looks rather aged; it perhaps has been hanging there since the model of trailer it represents was new. But I will see what happens, perhaps after some research into how to make it more attractive to avian tenants. To start with, they won’t beat the rent, and there’s no damage deposit required.

  1. Classic!
What a fabulous toy, if not a terrific birdhouse.

  2. That's the most creative bird house I've ever seen. It would be great TV for the cats if it were occupied this spring!

  3. I've never seen a birdhouse like that; I wonder if someone converted it from a kid's toy? It would be great if some birds found a home there!

  4. The only bird I know of that would use a "moving about" bird house is a house wren. Maybe a European House Sparrow. Most birds do want a solid foundation. The cats at Cosy Cabin could really enjoy a live bird show here!

  5. Could it be moved to the crotch of a tree or be put on a branch tiled down? (ladder needed of course).

    1. I will do that if the suspension doesn't work. It looks like it's been there a while, so it may have been successful in the past. We'll see.

  6. That is a very unusual bird house and would be fun to watch if it does become occupied.

  7. My great-aunt and uncle had a caravan the looked like that one.
I can't help but wonder why hang it there, it doesn't look safe to me

  8. I've never seen a birdhouse quite like it. If it could be stabilized, l'm sure the birds would love it. Not to mention, it would be great entertainment for the cats - cat TV.

  11. that is pretty cool. hopefully you can find a way to get it down and have
a look at the inside….maybe the utilities need to be turned on before a family moves in ๐Ÿ˜บ๐ŸŸ‼️๐Ÿ’™

  12. Paws crossed that some bird finds it appropriate for raising a family. I'm sure all the cats would enjoy seeing the birds.
