Neville is doing all well right now. He is eating, he is getting around - shakily - and he continues using the letterbox, though his poops are often outside of the box. His blood-glucose numbers fall and rise based on no external stimuli. Nonetheless, the old lion seems content.
Something I have done is to provide a low, open litter-box with no litter in it, just inside the Cosy Cabin’s front entrance in the sitting room. Nev’s most frequent haunt is the sitting room, so the box is just a few feet away from wherever he is. I think there is less of a struggle for him to exit when there is no litter; he feels cleaner, and, certainly, it avoids the mess that neither he nor I enjoy alleviating.
He has not pooped in the box; I think he may feel he needs litter for that. And he still uses other boxes. I wouldn’t deprive him or the others of that option. I know the Nevsky has used the litterless box at least once, and what is left in there is always the same hue, so I think it is him using it each time. And, at the very least, if it’s not him, someone is benefitting from it.
