Sable still spends most of her time under the bed. She comes out at night, and lies on a cat-tree in the cat-room. Sometimes she hurries out during the day, uses a litter-box in the cat-room or downstairs, then rushes back under the bed. Periodically though, she stays out and wanders about; now and then, I’ve startled her - and vice versa - when she’s been on top of the refrigerator, jumping down suddenly when I appear.
On the weekend, I was at the computer in the bedroom. Sabe slipped out of the room for some fresher air, and I heard her make what seems to be her characteristic gulping wail sound. I thought at first she was in the library, but she was, in fact, in the kitchen, and I missed the chance of recording her movements. Her sounds come at the beginning of this short video. Aside from an odd hiss if a cat comes too close to her, this is the only kind of noises she has so far made.
Poor baby, I hope she becomes braver and explores more.
ReplyDeleteIt seems every cat has a different sound don't they. You can't simply say they meow and they purr. Sable is a different girl and she has a sound to prove it.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what she's saying...if only we could communicate in the same language! At least she's coming out more now, hanging around in other places.
ReplyDeleteHopefully in time Sable will learn that the Cosy Cabin and its inhabitants are nothing to be afraid of and she'll stop hiding and enjoy living indoors.
ReplyDeleteOh Sable....by now you should know you are safe...
ReplyDeleteSable is pushing her envelope just a bit, but that's all it takes.
ReplyDeleteAt least she is coming out from under the bed. Hopefully in time she will become braver.
ReplyDeleteIt does seem like she's slowly becoming braver. Those vocals of hers sounded to me more inquisitive than scared.
ReplyDeletesable…next time ya place N order in de kitshun for sum snax, speek even mor sooper loud sew de fridge AND pan tree heer ya ‼️😺🐟💚💙
ReplyDeleteSometimes it takes a long while for the comfy to set it, especially with new residents coming and going.
ReplyDeleteThat kind of vocalization reminds me of when my first kitty was missing his 'brother' and looking for him. I wonder what/who she is searching for?
ReplyDeleteI thought the same. Sable may have had some friends she's missing. One cat I know she associated with was Arliss, but he came to my apartment much less frequently than Sable, and I wasn't able to capture him.
