A Beautiful Sight

This is what Cammie was doing last evening.

When I came home from work, I found no signs that she had thrown up. If she had, it would have involved some of what she had eaten that morning. And as she had shown an interest in hard-food before I had gone to work, I doubted that she would not have ingested some of that. Evidently, it all stayed down.

When I prepared the beasts’ dinners, the princess was ready to eat. I served her some Fancy Feast and she eventually consumed not much less than she normally does at that time. I didn’t press her, though. At snack-time, several hours later, she ate some more soft-food, and then, near bed-time, I took this photograph.

This morning, Cammie ate more Fancy Feast. I was a little worried when, afterward, she hid under an armchair, where she had hidden while sick. But she may have eaten a little too much for her stomach to handle right now, or she may have been afraid that I was about to carry her off to the bathroom and force-feed her again. But when I left for work, she was snoozing in a cat-bed, with no sign that she was about to be ill. So far, everything that has gone into her since Monday night has stayed down.

I have not yet observed her using the litter-boxes, though she may have, as I found some Cammie-sized poop there, but it was a different shape than usual. That is to be expected, I suppose, under the circumstances.

I am not a naturally optimistic man, so I remain guarded. However, while I don’t think we are quite out of the woods yet, we are on the right path, and we can now see green meadows through the trees.

Strangely, the other cats reflected Cammie’s illness. Everycat’s eating - except Parker’s - was off during the holiday weekend, but has recovered with a vengeance now. It’s true that I am serving for the time being Fancy Feast - everycat’s favourite - to get appetites moving again, but even so, it’s gratifying to see.

I want once more to thank once all those who have written and thought about, prayed and purred about Cammie during her trials. It has all helped.

Oh, and Tucker was doing his part. To encourage Cammie, he apparently wanted to show her that dying is not pleasant, and gave her his imitation of that awful state. I’m glad to write that the roly poly, too, has recovered.

    1. Cammie is doing decently now; there is plenty of room for improvement but we're on the way.

  2. This is great news! Maybe everyone had a bit of kitty...something? And Cammie was the most affected because of her sensitivities anyway? Whatever the reason, we hope Cammie is well and truly on the mend and everyone else too!

  3. BTW, I'm just back at work today and one of my co-workers told me when I got here that her cat, Jasper, was "sick" this weekend, off his food, not running around and playing as usual, etc. She made a vet appt for him for this AM (husband taking him in), but of course last night he started to eat and act normally again. (He's going in anyway for a check, bloodwork, etc.) All this to say that maybe there just is something going around everywhere, or this time of year triggers something...I don't know.

  4. It's great to hear that Cammie is feeling better! I'm sure Tucker's imitation had a lot to do with Cammie's recovery. :-) Meanwhile, I wouldn't be too concerned that she's not using the litter box. She hasn't eaten a lot, so there is not a lot that needs to come out! Give her a day or two, and I'm sure things will be back to normal.

    1. Cammie has used the litter-box now. Yes, there wasn't much in her to come out, and what was inside was probably needed there. She is still improving.

    1. We who have lost a furry friend are very sensitive to the slightest problems with our pets, so I am much relieved and sleeping better with Cammie's improvement. Thank you for keeping her in mind.

  7. I am glad to hear that Cammie is doing so much better. I am like you and feel so much happier when I see Flynn actually tucking into some food rather than sniffing it and walking away. Luckily he is rarely sick though.
Tucker is such a funny boy.

    1. When the cats are eating heartily - but not ravenously - I am a happy man. Flynn and you are in my thoughts: may you receive nothing but good news.

    1. Cammie continues to improve. She was waiting for her turn at the hard-food bowl when I left for work this morning, after a decent amount of soft-food. She's recovering.

  17. I am glad to hear Cammie is eating. We worry so much when they are under the weather. Sometimes I call my two little piggies but the fact remains it makes my heart happy to see them with healthy appetites.
I'll keep Cammie in my thoughts
