Raleigh at the Hospital, Again

Raleigh goes for his dental surgery this morning. (Please excuse the terrible photographs. I have a new telephone and the images it creates are far inferior to my old telephone’s.)

So far, I don’t think the Peachy boy has had a happy time in my care. He has been put into a new environment that he doesn’t know, with strange cats who dislike him; he has been subjected to ear-drops, eye-drops and cleanings that are a discomfort to him. He has had one surgery already and has been to the doctor a second time for an intrusive examination. Now, he will suffer pain with the removal of all his teeth. He must long for the less certain but freer days of the feral colony.

However, I hope that things will improve for him hereafter. With his teeth gone, I am optimistic that he will, eventually, feel better. Perhaps he will become less frightened of his new world and spend less time hiding.

Whatever the case, he will receive good food and decent medical care, and he will have cosy spots in which to sleep, if he so chooses. He will also have a lap to lie on, which he seems to enjoy. Wish Raleigh luck, if you will, that all goes well today. His life needs to become better from now on.

  1. Sending purrs to Raleigh today, and please be comforted in the knowledge that Raleigh...despite his new hardships since coming into your home...is going to be healthier, less stressed, and more loved than at any other time in his life! And forever more...

  2. My best thoughts are with Raleigh always. There's something about his face that particularly touches me.

I wouldn't be surprised if the hiding and a lot of what seems like fear is simply discomfort. Cats tend to hide when they're in pain or not feeling well. From what you say, poor Raleigh's teeth must be causing him problems. Hopefully, when that's taken care of, he'll start to feel more relaxed and sociable.

  3. Purrs to sweet Raleigh. I only had half of my teeth removed and I feel so much better, we hope it is the same for Raleigh.

  4. I am sending him ALL of my love and prayers for him as well. I will be anxious to hear about him. I am as concerned for him as I would be for Katie.

  5. Both Eastside Side and Undine made good comments, and I agree with and echo them both.

Nicki and Derry are sending their purrs for Raleigh and I have my (LED) candle "burning" at work right now, for him (and you).

We hope all goes well and that he recovers quickly. ♥

  7. Fingers and paws crossed for Raleigh today. John, please know that Raleigh appreciates everything you've done for him. Once he recuperates from today's surgery and he starts to feel better, he will realize how much he is cared for and loved. Love and care are things you've given him that he's been missing for a long while. Please keep us informed about how his surgery went.
