Gone

Parker died last night, at fifteen minutes to eleven.

He had been very weak during the last couple of days, and his condition crumbled swiftly Sunday evening. He was in distress, so I took another trip to the emergency ward of my veterinary hospital. There was nothing to be done for him but to say good-bye. I will write more later about Parker, my orange-boy, the sturdy-boy, my chum Puck. For now, I simply wanted to let all his friends know that he is gone.

  4. I knew we'd be getting this news sometime soon, but it's still a shock. At least the end came swiftly with, I hope, a minimum of suffering.

Parker so loved his walks outside. That's how I think of him right now, setting out on the longest, most enjoyable walk ever. He's happy, and free of all pain.

  5. We share in the sorrow of the loss of your dear Parker, may he rest well beyond the rainbow, forever. I have made a Rainbow Bridge image in his memory, but do not have an email address for you, John. If you would like to write to me, I will be glad to send it to you. Enjoy your memories of this beautiful boy, and the times you shared together. Fondly, Ann

  6. Godspeed your journey to heaven buddy; while you may be gone in the physical sense on this earth; we know you will live on in dad's heart; and that of all your friends; for all eternity. While we knew this was inevitable, it's still tough to take. We know Tungsten and Bear met you at heaven's gate, we know St Francis stayed by your side until you reached it. We are truly sorry and send hugs and loves to you, dad and the family you leave behind ~~~~~~~~~ ♥♥♥♥♥♥

  29. 30 minutes after you posted this I read it in the Mayo Hospital waiting room. I was there to get my stitches out of some facial surgery I had to have last week. I lost my breathe for a moment and I had to quickly take myself back to where I was and not let everyone in that room see me suddenly cry. I don't know why it is John that we become so attached to animals that don't even live with us, but somehow we do. So I said all of that to say my sadness is nothing in comparison (and I'm not even contemplating that) yours. It is so inexplicable and bewildering all at once, even when you know it's coming, it still shocks and deeply saddens us. I am so glad you shared your dear Parker with us all these years. He will be missed by those of us who loved him, even in passing by and only seeing him on the internet. He mattered and his life made a difference. I am so sorry. (also sorry for blubbering on too long)
