On the Loose

Hector is on the loose today in the Cosy Apartment. After almost two weeks with me, and a week of being allowed out of the library at night, Hec is at large, while I am at work. I don’t foresee too many problems. Renn doesn’t like him right now, and Hector charges at Neville, but I don’t think that will last.

I hear Hector at night, playing. I hear him knocking fuzzy mice about, and once a night, I hear the sound of something unidentifiable, always late at night, that wakes me. Not knowing what it is, I have to investigate. One night, it was a water-filled glass with spoons in it, knocked over in the kitchen sink. Then it was Tucker’s stool at his dining-table chair; the sound it makes when being pushed is a low, moaning, scraping noise.

My little night raider seems to do his best work in the dark, so maybe the day will be a quiet one, filled with sleeping cats. If I find no blood or bodies when I return from work, I will be satisfied.

  1. Precious is most active when it is dark. Like now the mornings are so
dark from 5:30 until nearly 7:30, she loves to play. Maybe Hector is a night time fellow too. Wanting to investigate while everyone in the Cosy Apartment is tucked up for the night.

  2. Perhaps Hector feels more confident about exploring during the night, when the world is asleep and everything's quiet?

  7. Hector sounds so cute, and he seems to have had no trouble making himself at home in the Cosy Apartment. I look forward to hearing more about his nightly escapades.

  8. Oh, that first time can be a sort of scary thoughts time, can't it?

Hope it was a good coming home for you today, not flying furs or bloody messes...let alone bodies, LOL!

Hector sure likes to explore and try things out for himself...and you wondering what on earth is he doing now? LOL!

Years and years ago, when we had our first kitty, who was in daytime hiding...I was sitting in the semi-darkness with only a small light on, when I heard the most curious sound...at least to me at the time...it was Groucho deciding it was OK to use the litter box, even though we were still not upstairs! That seems so funny to me now:)

    1. Cats learning to trust their new surroundings is an interesting time - scary for cats, though.
