Better Now

Renn is feeling better. His indisposition did not last long, though he is still sneezing once in a while. I would have been surprised if his illness had lasted as long as it does in other cats. My big boy rarely feels under the weather, and when he does, it rarely affects him strongly.

Even so, he was in a particularly good mood after dinner yesterday, and lie on my lap for about twenty minutes. He is never averse to that, but nonetheless doesn’t come for a lie down on me often. He is not built for being a lap-cat, but certainly has the affectionate character of one.

Afterward, he went to snooze in the new cat-bed. He has been lying there as much as the others. Only Neville doesn’t care for it but, like Parker before him, Nevsky prefers the open spaces, in his case, either the carpeted floor or the wide top platforms of cat-trees. Renn, however, enjoys a cosy spot, whether it’s a well-padded bed, or me.

  1. Good to hear that you are better, Renn! And such an opportunist for napping...

  2. Renn...good to know you are much better! Never miss an opportunity to sneeze in Dad's face at night though when you're up in the bed! I do that occasionally to Mom because I always have my nose stuck on or in her face and ear. That way I get good coverage if the need to sneeze arises.

  3. I'm so glad to hear that Renn feeling better. I love the picture of him in your lap. My Alex weighs 17 pounds, and like Renn, he is not built to be a lap-cat. But I guess no one told Alex that, because he has no problem curling up in my lap while I read or watch TV.

  5. Well done Renn. I wonder if you need to search for another bed like that one. Of course, if you got one there is no guarantee that the team will sleep in it.

  7. That’s good to hear. Even when they have minor illnesses, it’s a worry until it’s over.

  11. No place like a lap, if the kitty is willing to settle in for a
while. I usually have to pick Precious up and then she finally
gives in and falls asleep for an hour or 2! I have to be prepared
to stay in one spot, though.

    1. My first cat, Tungsten, was a lap-cat, and I never sat down unless I could sit at least twenty minutes, to make it worth her while to lie on my lap.

    2. I read of Precious's anniversary on your blog but was unable to comment this time. I wrote, "You saved her life. Some cats give up in shelters, even humane ones. They all need homes, and Precious obviously found hers seven years ago."

  12. Thanks for the comment. Haven't figured out why some can leave a comment and others can not. Lynn

    1. It must be in your ‘Settings’. Is there a selection for ‘moderating’ comments, or anything similar? Perhaps ‘allow all’ or ‘submit for moderation first’; something along those lines. But at least you know people are reading!

  13. We are so glad Renn is feeling better. Sick kitties make us upset and we are dealing with our old fellow Buddy Budd who is winding down and having kidney progression. Sigh

    1. I'm sorry to read this about Buddy Budd. May he still have plenty of time with you and the family, and all of it of quality.
