On the Loose

Kind thoughts would be appreciated for the residents of the Cosy Apartment. No one is sick right now (a red-letter day indeed!) and we are well-stocked with food and litter. Something much more concerning is occurring, even as I write. Auric is loose in the apartment, and unsupervised.

It had to happen sooner or later. Every morning, the Golden Boy has been locked in the bedroom with all the necessities. I believed that I was not able to trust him with the others, that he and Hector fought, and that he even bullied his older foster-brother. That is not true, and I see that he and Hec have a good time playing, even if Auric does get carried away now and then.

The youngest resident annoys the two oldsters (Minuet remains safely adjusting to her new life, locked in the library for now) but not greatly - except in one aspect. Auric will stand in front of the litter-box while they are using it. He stands about six inches away. He doesn’t try to keep them in the box or even block their exit. But his position can be intimidating. He doesn’t do this all the time, and there is no effective way of preventing it when I am not present.

It is, I think, something the cats will have to figure out. Auric will likely eventually stop doing it. It happens rarely, too rarely for it to be a reason to keep an active kittenish cat locked in one room away from stimuli all day. And so my request for your kind thoughts.

May they not be needed, after all!

  1. You need the thoughts and you will have them. Not only from me- but from all of us here.

  2. Auric doesn't yet understand the idea of privacy. No one needs a
potty time audience. Hope you find everyone of the 4 boys still has
a full coat of fur when you get home to them. Minuet may be listening
at the door to the commotion.

  9. I hope everything is as you expect to find it when you get home. I imagine Auric and Hector will charge around playing, tire themselves out an sleep the rest of the day.

  10. This had to happen sometime, John, and it may be that it happened for the best. I think the older cats now have a chance to teach Auric how they want him to behave and Auric now can learn proper kitty manners. Meanwhile, we'll look forward to hearing all about any "renovations" the cats made in the Cosy Apartment. :-)

  13. iwll add my thoughts and send them afar into Canada, so that peace will eventiually reing supreme at the Cozy SAprtemnt!

But I think kitties being smart will figure out the 'pecking' order and learn about what is not acceptable and what isn't, among themselves.
I think you will not need to watch TV for a few days, those kitties will keep you well entertained!

  14. He's such a handsome guy! I hope your weekend isn't too disrupting but I'm sure chaos will abound. You might have to lock yourself, with Renn and Neville, in the bedroom until the cosy apt settles down. I wonder what Minuet thinks of all the commotion outside her door?!!

    1. Being deaf, Minuet doesn't worry about sounds. She is more concerned about the cats she sees when her door is open. And she isn't pleased about their presence!
