Do You Want the Good News First?

The good news is that Tucker is doing better. He is still somewhat congested at night, though not as bad as he has been. He is still not eating any soft-food except small portion of Instinct lamb and venison that was given to me by someone for my outsider-cats. The roly poly is still getting the syringes of Recovery, of course, because his kidney medicine is in them. Today, I renewed the prescription for his anti-biotic, as I feel that that is helping him, and I don’t want to end it too soon.

The bad news is that there is something amiss with Neville. He has been swallowing - without reason, so far as I can see - and periodically hacking; similar to Tucker’s early symptoms. He is, so far, continuing to eat, but not in the amounts that he usually does; nor is he eager for his food as usual.

I thought that he may just have a hairball, so I have begun dosing him with hairball medicine. I did that last night and he appeared quite indignant about it. He strode straight from the bathroom, where I gave him the medicine, to the heated cat-bed in the sitting room, and lie down in it. I can’t remember when he last lie there, if he ever has. Tucker came out of the bedroom at one point and saw Neville there from across the apartment.

Though Tucker is sleeping there less now that the weather is warming, I think he still regards it as his spot, and stared at the Former Thin Man from down the corridor for about twenty minutes.

Life with the beasts is interesting, if nothing else. I would prefer a life like my piddling bank account - something with less interest.

  1. You're never piddlin' with that bunch of kitties, are you? Glad Tucker
seems so much improved. And immediately Neville is vying for your attention in a way you wish was not. It's always a fun job to clean up
a yucky fur ball when one decides where to leave it. But it would be
the best option for Neville if that is all that is wrong.

  2. Oh Neville. What is it, darling handsome boy? PLEASE don't be ill. Maybe something is actually stuck in your throat? Do you gnaw on toys?

    1. He doesn’t. I suspect that it is not a hairball and that Renn brought something back from the hospital. I hope that will make him at least immune. As long as the Nevsky keeps eating, it won’t be as bad for him as it has been for Tucker.

    2. We were all wanting to hear nothing *but* good news. Here’s hoping the Nev just has a minor bug.

  3. On noes. Neville you get better soon. John do you have any cat grass. Poppy loves to chew on some outside and I know you can grow it inside,I think cats like it for upset tummies.

  5. Oh no, there is never good news without bad news following on it's heels. I hope Nev only has a mild version of what Tucker had and is soon over it.

  6. Purrs and purrayers from us as well. I read your reply that you suspect Renn brought something back from the vet clinic -- it's rather scary how often that happens. Rather like human hospitals too. I will keep all you in my thoughts and prayers and hope that whatever ails Neville passes quickly. At least Tucker is doing better! 💖

Seems he's on the mend, and perhaps
Neville is coming out in sympathy..! :).

I've just got back from town, fudge has
had his saucer of milk, and is settling
down next to me, on the PC, on the puff..!
So he'll be here for a couple of hours..! :)

  11. Continued purrs for both Tucker and Nevsky.
And I know what you mean about less sleep, because Sweetie has been meowing my nights away for the last few days.

  12. We sure hope Neville is fine after that medicine works. So good to hear Tucker is feeling better and we hope he continues progressing. Ah but life would be so boring without the furs

  14. We are sending purrayers your way! We had a virus go through the cats here. The first cat had it the worst. We agree with the piddling bank account...
