Sitting One's Ground

Neville is usually unbothered by the vacuum cleaner. Yesterday, though, he insisted on remaining in the sitting room while I cleaned it. To be precise, he insisted on lying in the path of the vacuum cleaner while I used it on the rugs. For a minute, the Nevsky stood (or, rather, lie on) his ground. He even whapped at the machine a couple of times. But I’m afraid the strain of battle was too much for him, and he fled. My Nev is, after all, not a fighter.

A few minutes later, he was at the top of the tall cat-tree, looking out the window. He wasn’t watching anything in particular, so the amazement of his encounter with the vacuum cleaner may still have been occupying his mind.

  3. That face! I do wonder what goes on in Neville’s mind. He has the expression of someone who thinks very interesting thoughts.

  4. Heavens, Precious only has to hear the monster come out of the closet on it's wheels and she's a goner! Brave Neville I'd say. And so nonchalant about it all now safely and quietly perched on the cat tree.

  5. It looks like Neville is supervising your use of the vacuum cleaner. I guess he wants to be sure that you're doing a good job. Perhaps the next time, he could vacuum for you. After all, you could always use a little help at the Cosy Inn.

  9. At first the vacuum bothered me, but these days I simply ignore the noisy thing like it's not even there.

  10. Neville! Your eyes. Until Eric and Flynn said that, somehow I missed the import! Are you recovered now? That last pic showed your total consternation! We are concerned for your mental health after having a stand off with the Monster!

  11. LOL, those eyes! Neville was VERY brave, none of my cats ever would have done that!

  12. The look on his face is hilarious! I've never had a cat who liked the vacuum as some do, but now that Sasha is hard of hearing he no longer bothers to run out of the room. He might raise his head when I get closer to him but that's it. Of course, he never sleeps on the floor, preferring a chair or couch or my bed as his perch.

  13. Of the six cats over the years, two of them loved to get vacuumed, I think they thought it was some kind of massage, LOL! They would go to *The Spot* and wait for me to get there...at the end of my cleaning, then it was their turn:)

    He sure is nonchalant!

    1. My first cat, Tungsten, was like that. She too thought it was a massage. Funny animals...
