A Little Play-time

Auric continues to accustom himself to life at the Cosy Apartment, though his existence there is circumscribed due to his enforced isolation. He goes for his initial examination tomorrow; he is accompanying Renn to the hospital. I won’t tell my big boy; I imagine he would be think it an insult added to his injury to go to the veterinary and as good as babysit a youngster at the same time…

Meanwhile, Auric is showing me how he plays. He wasn’t very energetic with the string-toy - it may not be his favourite toy - but he was interested, and fought with it satisfactorily. As Hector does, Auric seized the string and then started to take it away in his mouth. Where these cats think they are going with their prizes, I don’t know. It is probably instinctive, taking their kill back to their homes. But Golden Boy seemed to enjoy himself. I will see how he acts with a laser-pointer next, I think.

  1. He is a beautiful cat now but when he has a chance to develop indoors he is going to be a stunner!

  2. We find toys at the door every morning; it's like Da Boyz are showing us what they've managed to 'kill' every night!

  3. Ditto "Angel Abbygrace!"

It will be fun to see what appeals to him the most, in terms of toys. In the meantime, my fingers are crossed for his vet visit tomorrow, and for Renn too.

  4. Hope the dr visits go well for Renn and Auric. The fun begins now with the toy selection that suits him most. Love the string reaction he's having. Good luck with the laser. Precious never even acts like it is anything to show interest in.

  6. I hope both vet visits go well.

It's amazing how quickly Auric has settled down with you--even faster than Hector did, I think. It makes me feel he must have once had a home where he was happy, and that he was "on his own" just long enough to get his respiratory infection.

Poor fellow, I suppose we'll never know for sure if he was lost, or abandoned.

  8. Hopefully Renn and Auric will get good reports from the vet tomorrow. Please keep us posted. Auric reminds me of Willow. She frequently brings me her toys as gifts, and many times I'll wake up in the morning to find she had taken a toy to bed with her. I agree with many of your readers - Auric is a gorgeous cat.

  10. Well, that sure is nice that Auric likes to play with the string toy. We hope the laser is a hit.

Paws crossed for him and Renn's vet appointment. We hope all goes well!

  11. Auric is a lovely colour. Apart from his beloved Scruffy Rat, string was the only thing Eric would play with. I hope the vet visits go well.

  12. Paws crossed for Renn and certainly Auric's visit today. Mom and I will be waiting!
I think Auric may possibly be a bit more golden than Raleigh?

Like the others said he's a stunner!

  14. Maybe he isn't used to toys that much?? But those string toys do bring out the prey instincts.

Pipo used to try and drag the things at the end of a string or wire, too.
