How They Entertain Themselves While I'm Away

On Friday, I sat down after dinner to relax with a cup of tea and some music. That’s when I noticed something strange in the corner bookcase.

One of the volumes stored there had been pulled out. It was from my collection of 1920s and ‘30s travel-books.

I don’t mind my cats reading about Czechoslovakia a hundred years ago, or about any country at any time. Any subject is, in fact, open to them. My books are their books.

I just wish they would put them back when they were finished reading them.

  1. If the cats were planning to take a trip, at least they could have invited you! :-)

  2. Really, it was the poltergeist that moved the book, but the cats picked the title.

  3. Hahaha! I wonder who is the culprit? I don't want to blame Horace who's laying there so innocently.

  4. HaHa! Perhaps that's the first book they pulled out...
A second one they pulled out, read, and put back...

And are their spelling ability able to manage Czechoslovakia..

  6. Quite a few years ago there was a series of silly fun light Mysteries with two Siamese cats always in the story. And their favorite thing was to get a book off the shelf and have their human read them a chapter every night before they went to bed. Maybe one of your cats knows of this story and is trying to tell you something.

  7. Interesting choice of reading! I would have thought a volume on bird species might have been more appropriate! 😁

    1. It's as well I don't own a copy of "To Kill a Mockingbird"; it'd be so worn I'd have to own several.

  8. They have interesting reading habits.

  9. I suppose it's no accident that Hector was in the lead photo...

  10. Maybe they chose it for size - like to stand on or sit on to better see out a window.

    1. A bit far from the window for that, and it'd be smarter to use the cat-tree right next the window. Tucker may have tried to use a book; he wasn't always the brightest of felines...

  11. Saku often knocks books off the night stand in an effort to wake me (along with a photo of Eli, my cellphone and glasses if I dally too long). Can't say he's ever pulled on off the shelf. I wonder, are they planning a trip? :)

    1. I know cats can teleport across distances; if they can do the same for time, then I'll beg them to take me with them.

  12. Don't loose their spot, maybe they weren't quite done yet!

  13. How funny...maybe there was a spider or bug walking across it, so they had to pull it out to better stalk it?
